3 out of 5 stars Needed Modification   May 13, 2009

I opened up the box, and was excited to put this on my MR1 and go. I was disappointed when I was unable to do this. The end of the stock that fits into the back of the gun was too big. I had to grind down the insert so that it would fit. This was not a huge problem, just an inconvenience, and pain in the ... "posterior."

The bigger issue is that the stock has two main parts: the extending end (made of a composite plastic) and the end that goes into the gun (made of aluminum). These two parts are not attached permanently nor are they attached snugly. When I put the stock onto my gun and put it to my shoulder, I felt the stock shift. Turns out it was the threads on the plastic side slipping out from the metal side. When I assessed the situation, I noticed that the stock moved much more than I was comfortable with, and I was able to pull it free from the metal end with little effort. This made the stock completely useless to me.

However, I remedied this by clearing out the threads on both parts, and used teflon plumbing tape to increase the girth of the plastic threads; this gave me a sturdy fit. Also, I used some copper wire to create a makeshift o-ring to fit between the two pieces because they fit best when not fully screwed in.

I did not attempt to return this when I noticed the problems because I was very displeased with the shipping from Dorosports (the customer service was very unhelpful). I was not going to wait another few weeks just to get a new stock that may have also been low-quality.

If you are not up for modifying the stock so that it fits your gun and is sturdier, do not buy this. If you are, it is a decent stock when all the mods have been made.

I fit the stock to a Spyder MR1 marker with no problem. I played for three hours this past weekend and the stock performed flawlessly. A friend had the same stock on his Tippman A5 and it worked well for him too. The stock is well-made, easy to install and sturdy. A good choice.

My first stock was recieved broken. The bottom sling mount was busted off and it seems likly to happen on the replacment stock I recieved. It fit well, and is easy to adjust the allen hole for adjusting fps. I have a MR1 and this stock is really cool compared to the stock, stock. Great look and feel.
